[ ah, that's another thing confirmed. nisaka supposes if shigeru insists he's okay with it... then there's no harm in accepting. just so long as he keeps his hands to himself.
now, normally, nisaka wouldn't even be the type to accept such an offer... but given he's a long way from home... falling back on old ways might be a bad idea. ]
[ yeah, the look on nisaka's face shows he clearly has no idea what luke is referring to. in fact, for a few seconds there, he'd been certain the redhead had been jerking his chain...
but there's no faking that look of frustration. ]
...Sorry. [ he's not really sure why he's apologizing — it just seems like the right thing to say. ] All of this must be pretty strange to you, then.
It's weird as hell! But what are you apologising for? It's not your fault. [It's less out of kindness and more out of annoyance. The only one who needs to apologise is whoever brought him here.] Besides shouldn't you be mad too?
I haven't heard anyone saying otherwise. And there seems to be some benefit to being in the classrooms at the appropriate times even if you aren't paying attention - we're getting some of their language.
[It really wouldn't be long before the elevator reached the bottom, seeing as if nothing especially terrible happened to them.
Ah, but there's the change. It happens without any provoking. A cold shiver creeps up Wendy's spine, putting hairs on end. It was... kinda thrilling? She'd taken the elevator before, and panicked about it. But now they were cool.
A "time like this" aside, that's really all that I can think about! Besides, it's impossible not to notice the effects of the female presence here. Maybe you come to take it for granted if you're never separated from them, but it's pretty powerful, you know!
[ his voice pitches a little in desperation. dragging his gaze away from the ceiling, he looks back towards iwaizumi, seeking out any injuries that might prevent this. ]
[He won't have to look for long, he holds up his hand for Nisaka to see, looking apologetic.] I can hoist you up if you really want out of here, but the elevator can start at any point too. We pressed the button, after all.
[He swallows hard, tries to stop himself from squeezing his eyes shut.]
[ any other time, and nisaka might not have even given the order a second thought. but just like the older boy, he was just as anxious to get out of there. taking ho pae's order as a signal to move, he pushes himself off of the wall. he barely prevents himself from stumbling over his own feet as he grabs at the other boy's arm, hauling him up with what meager strength he has, but at least he doesn't show any sign of hesitating on their way out of there. ]
[He scrambles to his feet the moment he can, following without hesitation as he looks back at the elevator. This definitely didn't look like the ground floor, so that means they didn't fall down, right? Damn it.]
What is up with this school? [And then he turns to him sharply.] You-- were acting differently. You didn't feel it shaking?
[ alas, if only that warning had come in sooner...
onoda can probably already tell from the way nisaka flinches in response, the hasty way in which he darts his gaze to the side. even the way his cheeks color pink in embarrassment... there's really no point in pretending, though. ]
You too, huh...? [ he shakes his head a little, hands shoving into his pockets for lack of anything better to do. ]
Someone should put a warning sign on those things or something.
nisaka doesn't hear what max hears, so he doesn't jump like she does. but just as he's about to question her strange reaction (a hasty attempt to get him to sympathize, perhaps? to offer her comfort? oh, he's all those tricks before), he feels it — the sudden lurch of the elevator, the telltale drop of his stomach that means this metal box he's stuck in will soon be following.
his hands slam against the wall behind him, knocking against the railing and bruising up his knuckles. his back follows soon after as his heart leaps up into his throat, and his eyes are desperately searching the other walls, as if they might somehow present a solution to all this. ]
[A few Hail Marys might just help, on top of that.
Max is in the middle of practically curling into a tiny, defensive semicircle (far from a bid for pity, and much less attention---if anything, she's trying not to start going into a panic attack), when, on her end, there's an especially loud screech---like the elevator's running clear off its cables---followed by a rapid quaking, then a lurch.
She huddles further into herself, eyes darting wildly from Nisaka to the ceiling, with the expectation of seeing the cables come springing forth from through it.
She swallows hard.]
Kinda trying to do the exact opposite of that---
[Then there's a rough jolt that comes from the elevator, forcing Max to cut herself off as she squints her eyes shut, letting out a quiet whimper as she backs up against the corner she's reserved for herself.]
[ if nisaka feels at all bad for only giving part of his name while slaine had given him all of his — he doesn't show it. in fact, he doesn't really show much of anything save for a soft, considering look as he reaches over to grasp the other's hand. ]
I guess if I had to bump into anybody, I'm glad it was Mr. Information Broker.
[ which.. is his quiet way of saying thanks again. ]

Yes it is. I'm sorry you were brought here. [ He looks really dour when he shows him that message. ]
