[ any other time, and nisaka might not have even given the order a second thought. but just like the older boy, he was just as anxious to get out of there. taking ho pae's order as a signal to move, he pushes himself off of the wall. he barely prevents himself from stumbling over his own feet as he grabs at the other boy's arm, hauling him up with what meager strength he has, but at least he doesn't show any sign of hesitating on their way out of there. ]
[He scrambles to his feet the moment he can, following without hesitation as he looks back at the elevator. This definitely didn't look like the ground floor, so that means they didn't fall down, right? Damn it.]
What is up with this school? [And then he turns to him sharply.] You-- were acting differently. You didn't feel it shaking?
[ also the extreme lack of SPLATTERED BODIES, ho pae... that might've been your first clue the elevator didn't crash. ]
—it fell, didn't it?
[ he jerks back a little, seeming to shrink under the other boy's sharp scrutiny. he speaks in whispers, too, as if saying it any louder might illicit another unwanted feeling. ]
[He points out-- mostly because he was wandering those floors for quite a while before he tried to head up instead. This definitely didn't look like the right floor. He's used to people shrinking away from him though, so he doesn't think over it twice as he looks around.]
Damn it. [And he's really pissed at this school, but not necessarily Nisaka.] Look, you-- come with me.
[ the sharpness in the older boy's tone has nisaka snapping his attention back to him, where earlier it had strayed back towards the elevator... the doors of which have closed again, which adds an odd sense of relief to him. ]
—what? Where?
[ he glances around warily, half-expecting another elevator to pop up and swallow them whole. ]
[ no, is nisaka's immediate answer, so obvious he doesn't even bother to say it. rather, he straightens up a bit more and remains at the older boy's side. ]
I'm not much of a bodyguard, [ he says after a moment, a meager attempt at lightening the mood now that they can both breathe again. ]
[He points out, which-- doesn't add the part that Ho Pae is in similar danger if anything happened, but he's more confident in his ability to survive than this guy.]

If there's anything else here like that, you think you want to take the chance being caught alone?
