Yes, it's a means to teach people self-defense and first aid. Meetings also provide a forum for sharing information without the native population milling about.
[He tips his head slightly, indicating the faceless students that wander the halls beyond the doors to the pool room. They still don't yet know how much those students pay attention to them, but they certainly react to their actions.
[ sensing a level of discretion is needed, nisaka doesn't do much save for follow the slight cant of slaine's head with a flicker of his eyes. he's not surprised to find a certain level of suspicion directed towards the weird students, and he's certainly grateful for it.
