[ jude wakes up far too early in the morning to hear someone groaning in what sounds like discomfort. one glance at nisaka's empty bed tells him he should probably get up.
so he rolls out of bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, and slowly, quietly makes his way over to the source of the heaving: the bathroom. and there is nisaka, hunched over the toilet.
well.
jude isn't going to ask what happened quite yet. instead, he rests a gentle hand on nisaka's back, a light touch, averting his gaze. ]
On a scale of one to ten, how bad is it?
[ he didn't seem like he was getting sick the day before and he wasn't around by the time jude went to sleep, which leaves just one other possibility: a hangover. ]
[ it's probably a true testament to how miserable he's feeling right now that he gives no discernible reaction to the touch on his back. fortunately, he's also too miserable to even feel embarrassed about it all. ]
[ jude keeps his hand on nisaka's back until it seems like he's finished. his next order of business is retreating to grab him a glass of water for him to rinse his mouth out with. ]
First hangover?
[ not that jude's ever had one, but he's not stupid. ]
[ weakly, nisaka fumbles with the flush, because he realizes (belatedly) keeping the air clear and the surroundings as clean as possible is the least he could do. instead of really answering, all he does is roll his head around to rest the side of his head on his arm, large eyes trying (in vain) to focus on the other boy in front of him. ]
Does your head hurt? Come with me. I have something for it.
[ jude offers his arm down for nisaka to grab hold of. a wordless offer to help him walk; something tells him voicing it might just embarrass him, and he knows nisaka does not want to be embarrassed. ]
[ those eyes focus on the proffered arm, for perhaps longer than is necessary, but eventually he is slipping a hand onto it to help himself up, though he keeps his gaze firmly away now in a vain attempt to spare whatever dignity he has left. (hint: it's not much.)
his legs are wobbly, unsteady, but he manages to follow jude out of the bathroom well enough. ]
Your given power wouldn't happen to be getting rid of hangovers, would it?
Unfortunately, it's nothing quite that unique, but at the very least I'll do what I can.
[ jude wraps an arm around his shoulders until they make it to nisaka's bed, and he gently releases his hold on him so he can sit down. ]

[ not like he's likely to go anywhere right about now, but... anyway. jude goes to grab some more water and some painkillers. a doctor should always have medicine on hand, right? ]
[ he leans forward to rest his elbows on his knees, and his head in his hands. mostly because staying vertical is much more difficult than he thought it would be, but it does make picking his head back up when jude returns that much more difficult.
[ he makes a soft sound as the bed is jostled lightly due to the added weight, but makes no real protest. he considers the pills in his hands before popping each one into his mouth, then taking a delicate sip of the water after each. ]
Once someone flings the words "magic" and "powers" at you, you kind of come to expect everything to be solved that way.
I... don't know. I wish I could say that's impossible; it's a total invasion of privacy, after all, but we still don't know how this world works, what the gears turning behind it are. Like I said, there's just too much risk involved.
[ he glances at nisaka. ]
Trust me, I don't like the idea any more than you do.
[ the small movement at the corner of his eye prompts him to look back, but once eye contact is actually made, he's glancing away once more. moves carefully to set the empty glass down on a nearby table. ]
Not like we can really do anything about it, I guess.
[ there is a heaviness in his tone. an acceptance that implies he's made similar ones many times before. ]
I still have some time before I need to go into work; I have some leeway. And considering it's only your second day here, I don't think anyone is expecting you to have a job already. Don't worry about it. Just focus on feeling better.
