I have to say, I wish I could argue with you, but you're right. There's not.

[ jude notices the shift in mood, but he's not quite sure what to do about it. maybe he should change the subject. ]

How did you get such a nasty hangover, anyway? How much did you drink?

[ another faint pause, and then a sigh. ]

Someone was selling bottles of eggnog. I didn't realize they had alcohol in them until I drank nearly half.

Half?!

[ jude gapes at him. ]

No wonder you're so sick... Lesson learned, I guess?

[ his tone is sympathetic. really. ]

[ nisaka flinches at the volume jude reaches, leaning a little away from him as a result.

not so loud... he's injured... ]

Yeah... Definitely never doing that again.

Well. Just rest up today. Is there anything else I can get for you?

[tepidity]

[ he rubs at his eyes. he can't believe it... only his second day here, and he's already out for the count. ]

Aren't we supposed to be working...?

I still have some time before I need to go into work; I have some leeway. And considering it's only your second day here, I don't think anyone is expecting you to have a job already. Don't worry about it. Just focus on feeling better.

[ not that nisaka has much of a work ethic, but it still feels pretty rotten to shirk on responsibilities if everyone else is working hard. ]

Where are you working...? [ since he isn't able to physically go out and get a job, he can at least start thinking about it... ]

I'm a nursing assistant at the hospital, but... There are plenty of jobs anyone can do. I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding one.

[ maybe he can work at the local mcdonald's....... ]

I'll start looking tonight, I guess. [ surely his hangover will be done with by then??? ]

Sounds like a plan to me. For now, sleep that hangover off. I hope the pills help with the headache. The nausea should have passed by now.

[ nisaka just makes a low, thoughtful sound. mostly just to provide a response, without really responding.

[ a light hum in response, and then he's heading to the kitchen to make himself breakfast.

later on, when nisaka wakes up, he'll see jude left some food out for him, too, with a little note that says eat something! ]
